1929 French Flour Mill Invoice – Cat & Olivier, Marseille
Details
Original French commercial invoice dated 23 April 1929, issued by Cat & Olivier, a roller flour mill based in Marseille, and addressed to the Grands Moulins de Montélimar.
This striking document combines industrial, agricultural and maritime trade history. Its elaborate printed letterhead features the name Cat & Olivier, the words Minoterie à cylindres, a lion emblem, the Eiffel Tower and a reference to a gold medal awarded at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900.
The invoice records a shipment of 27,480 kg of Manitoba wheat, “2 North Dominion”, priced in US dollars per 100 kg and described as CAF Marseille, vrac. Typed accounting entries in blue ink, a red Facture Finale marking and handwritten calculations remain visible throughout the page.
A particularly decorative piece of French commercial ephemera, combining the history of flour milling, grain trading, food production and early twentieth-century maritime commerce.
