1901 French Business Letter with Envelope – Sully Flour Mill, Bayeux
Details
Original French business correspondence dated 14 January 1901, written on the illustrated letterhead of the Minoterie à cylindres de Sully, near Bayeux in Calvados, Normandy.
The letter was sent by Edmond Le Brun, a miller operating the Sully roller mill near Bayeux. Its striking printed letterhead is illustrated with two pieces of industrial milling machinery and includes the business name, location and telegraphic address.
Written by hand in brown ink, the correspondence combines professional matters with New Year wishes. Edmond Le Brun sends his best wishes to the recipient and his family, while also referring to a previous meeting and requesting documents connected with his business affairs.
The original envelope accompanies the letter. It bears the printed heading “Minoterie de Sully, près Bayeux (Calvados) – Edmond Le Brun”, a blue French 15-cent postage stamp, postal cancellation and the handwritten destination.
A particularly attractive piece of French commercial ephemera, combining handwritten correspondence, postal history and a beautifully illustrated industrial letterhead.
