Ostend Bathing Postcard, “Amitiés d’Ostende” – Postmarked 1920
Details
A cheerful greeting from the Belgian seaside, preserved on an original vintage postcard.
Entitled “Amitiés d’Ostende”, this sepia-toned card depicts a smiling bather in a striped bathing costume and gathered bathing cap, waving from the shallow waves. Another bather appears in the background.
Three red Belgian 10-centime stamps, cancelled in Ostend in 1920, add a striking splash of colour to the front. The reverse retains a handwritten message in blue ink, “Un bonjour d’Ostende”, addressed to Châlons-sur-Marne, France.
A charming addition to a postcard collection devoted to seaside holidays, bathing fashions or the Belgian coast.
